Tina Cartwright is the newly elected Labor Councillor for Central Ward in the 2024 Hills Shire Council Elections

Why Tina ran for Council Elections

Having lived in The Hills Shire for over twenty years with my family, there are local issues we care deeply about that are shared by many in our community. Speaking with local families, there is a genuine feeling of frustration and mistrust that community needs are not being heard or met by our Liberal dominated Councillors. We must have a local council that is truly representative of the community and one that listens, is transparent, accountable and delivers for the community.

Work & Study

Tina has worked in both small and large business and is currently studying her Bachelor of Nursing degree part-time whilst being the primary carer for her children.

Recent Events & Political Campaigns

In 2023, Tina ran for Labor in the NSW State Election for the Seat of Castle Hill in which Tina achieved an 11.5% swing to Labor in The Hills, which was unprecedented in this Seat for Labor.

Tina's Community Work

Tina volunteers for a number of organisations including Castle Hill Rotary, Disability Trytime Rugby League. Tina also attends many community events and causes including Homelessness, The Positive Vibes Foundation, The Hills Winter Sleep Out, Special Olympics (Swimming), Community Cultural Events and Domestic Violence campaigns.

Council Issues

Tina feels that there are many issues in the community that need addressing including:

  • Spiralling Council Rates
  • Inappropriate development
  • The unacceptable destruction of our local reserve heritage – Fred Caterson Reserve
  • Local traffic infrastructure
  • Shuttle bus services to Metro Stations
  • Safe level crossings
  • Waste management
  • Lack of community facilities in a growing Shire
  • Housing affordability

Tina is particularly concerned with the Council’s lack of consultation, transparency and ignoring many of the community concerns in a growing Hills Shire. Please provide your feedback on the issues that matter to you and your family.

Tina's Council Objectives

Tina will always act in the interests of the Hills community. Tina will seek progressive change on council and advocate to the NSW State Government to improve our local infrastructure, roads, housing, recreational facilities, school overcrowding, community and recreational care.
